Borobudur Temple
Borobudur temple is located in Magelang, Central Java. The temple is the biggest temple in Indonesia. Borobudur Temple is a temple for Buddhism. The building was also once the seven wonders of the world. I think that Borobudur Temple is a remarkable heritage and amazing. The Borobudur temple there are many inscriptions that have meaning or stories about Buddhism.Borobudur was built in the 9th century. Borobudur was built by the followers of Mahayana Buddhism during the reign of Dynasty dynasty. To make these temples takes about 76 years. Borobudur own words based on the first written evidence, written by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, Governor General of the United Kingdom in Java, which gives the name of this temple. There is no written evidence that older who gave names to the temple of Borobudur. Only one of the oldest documents that show the existence of this temple is Nagarakretagama book, written by the MPU Prapanca in 1365. In the book is written that this temple was used as a place of Buddhist meditation. This temple for centuries are no longer used. Then because of volcanic eruptions, most of the buildings covered Borobudur volcanic soil. In addition, the building is also covered with various trees and shrubs for centuries. Then the building of this temple began forgotten in the days of Islam arrived in Indonesia around the 15th century.
This building is a model of the universe and built as a shrine to honor the Buddha also functions as a place of pilgrimage to guide mankind to switch from natural lust to enlightenment and wisdom according to the teachings of Buddha.
