Marine Natural Park Weh Island


Weh Island is a small volcanic island located in the northwest of the island of Sumatra. The island is located in the Andaman Sea. The largest city on the island of Weh, Sabang, is the westernmost city in Indonesia. The island is famous for its ecosystem. Government of Indonesia has established the region as far as 60 km² of the island edge either into or out as nature reserves. Big mouth shark can be found on the coast of this island. In addition, the island is the only one whose status is threatened frog habitat. Coral reefs around the island is known as a habitat for many species of fish. On the island of Weh, Sabang are coral reefs, both hard corals and soft corals of all types, shapes and colors, all of which form an attractive cluster of coral to be enjoyed, including coral reefs with the area name Lupas, rock deer, rock chips. In addition to coral reefs, can be found the types of reef fish such as Angel fish, fish Tropet, Dunsel fish, fish Sergeon, Grope fish, Parrot fish and others. In addition, many species of fish found economical as Tuna, snapper, Grouper, Bayan, Banana-Fish and others.

Nature tourism activities to do in Sea Park Weh Island is tirta tourist activities such as surfing, boat ride, swimming, fishing, and diving under the water to enjoy nature with a diversity of coral reefs and reef fish are beautiful. Facilities for tourists that can be enjoyed include cottages built around Iboih community, shelter, mosques, souvenir stalls and hotels are located in Gapang. In addition there are various facilities that are constructed by Rubiah Island Tourism Office in Aceh include dive centers are equipped with facilities (motor boats, scuba gear), praying, shelter, toilets, guard house, tower, trails, parks and electrical installations.
